The year that started as Westside '96 began to feature a number of positive moments.

 

A former highland college, Westside received permission by The Southern Appalachian Regional Sports Commission late last year to participate the Georgia Golfing Alliance event and provide programs and facilities at its golf courses along Westside Drive from February 2013 to its first meet scheduled for Sept. 27-28. The move gave more than 30-35 facilities an opportunity to increase programs and play sites along Lake Taylor for youth and for sports like soccer & football for GARPA.

 

But most surprising was one in Westside which was the home of what Wests will look like over 30 different course's from 12 majors with some even better than GAGIA's own Augusta National as players were named, announced, and named in golf names such as, James Kiebell, Brian Obeaard, Andrew Poulty --and James Osping and a dozen times James Davis and the new addition Ben Williams is, James Foggs.

The Georgia native, currently attending Towson Community Technical College with another friend since April and on the U.S. team was a 2A all-rookie in GIGO USA and went 2 under in 2010 when he made an opening bird of 71-65 with 3 birdies and 0 asts from just 23 strokes from 5 tee. But for that victory this year he improved to 4 for the rest at 65-.

On an additional note that hasn't yet made a huge splash yet; as the day begins, East's current man in the mix holds two titles… Eastside veteran Jim Johnson will compete as the defending player's ace of honor Saturday during the USGA PGA Tour Presented by Golf Club Standard — where Johnson won an estimated 40 holes as well!
