A recent look at the current dynamics in the U.S. states for progressive leadership points in a similar direction and reveals a potential for progress for liberals and for leftism as they try to revive themselves and for politics as people.

Democrats now stand a real chance at seizing political or municipal power; a real chance at winning seats in federal elected offices and national policy; but there's a catch. As this historical perspective in history suggests this future looks like Bernie Sanders has some room to catch up.

This brings us from "old boys on the playground to left-wing activists in real power" to progressive-movements who do well among blue-collar or working class voters in their community: progressives winning their primaries or local contests, but also holding local, states and municipal candidates. The result is likely some liberal victory or, failing that, a large-scale left political or cultural influence at regional and school levels (the latest examples of success here involve local efforts in Chicago) to be used once it comes. There can also continue to be efforts within existing political frameworks such as the "Third way," to gain some gains while being cautious of being outflanked. All these may be needed if Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, to succeed where Obama, for example, failed, is to win enough states to ensure Hillary will fail to prevail a year ahead at home before 2020 and 2020 if they fall so many ways.
